What
Day 1: Field, Forest, and Factory
A guided tour through the Hudson Valley’s bio-based materials ecosystem—from field and forest to final form. We’ll visit farms practicing regenerative agriculture, learn about regional forestry practices, experience a range of bio-based materials, and explore built projects that showcase their application at scale.
Tour Stops:
- Stone House Grain – an organic feed and grain farm.
- Wally Farms – an experimental farm and forest demonstrating diverse practices.
- Spring Wind Farm – a Buddhist retreat center made from straw panels.
- Material Petting Zoo – touch and smell regionally sourced bio-based building materials in their raw and finished form.
Day 2: Shaping the Future of Bio-Based Materials
Hosted at Scenic Hudson’s Northside Hub in Poughkeepsie, Day 2 brings together diverse leaders in policy, finance, manufacturing, design, and education to share the latest insights from the bio-based materials movement. Together, we’ll imagine what’s next, and identify the actions needed to move the industry forward.
